BikePAC of Oregon, Inc.
Greetings to Everyone:
We have entered into another season here in Oregon and the Motorcycle Awareness
Rally was a success. This is thanks
to more people than I can name or even remember sometimes.
We had about 600 bikes and 800 people in attendance at the Rally on May 1st.
It was a success in the number of bikes but down a bit in actual people
attending. It was interesting to
listen to 3 different candidates for Governor speak to us about their plans for
Oregon. We had some very good
speakers.
I have had a tough time putting together all the things that are horribly
outdated in BikePAC and making them work for everyone.
I have had some great help but more work is needed.
Regarding the Rally, there is much work needed if we are going to reach
more people and make it even better than it is now.
I am inviting everyone that has ideas to attend some (if not all) of the
BikePAC regular meetings. Put this
date on your calendars for every month (I do because I would probably forget
otherwise) that the first Saturday of each month is a BikePAC meeting (unless it
is cancelled, of course). We need
workers, ideas, fund raising, lots of things and most of all --
BikePAC NEEDS YOU ! ! !
I have but one year left of my term as your Executive Director, so someone needs
to step up now and start getting trained for taking the reins when I step down.
I will not be in the running for another term.
I am sure that everyone is tired of my way of doing things.
Also, Mel Yeager will be retiring from BikePAC the next year, 2012, and
will no longer be the Secretary/Treasurer.
Mel has done a fantastic job and whoever steps up will have very little
to do as Mel has it down to a science and a very easy one, at that.
BikePAC is currently trying to get the donated trailer from ABATE ready for
BikePAC use. Mel and I have done
electrical work (mostly Mel) and I sealed the roof and we have done other things
in preparation to painting. Anyone
that wants to help us with this project is more than welcome.
Right now the trailer is at Mel’s place, but it will be moved back to my
place (I have more room available) as soon as we are done with the upgrades.
With Respect,
Nic Oliver, Executive Director
